From the dusty football grounds of Kitetikka, Masoli in Kasangati, Wakiso District, to the competitive stages of Ugandan and East African football, Reagans Akilimali Sajjabi has built a remarkable story of talent, resilience, and determination.
Known by his famous nicknames “Asensio,” “Kamu Zero,” and “The Magician,” Reagans has become one of the most admired attacking midfielders in regional football, earning recognition for his creativity, technical ability, and ability to change games with moments of brilliance.
Born into a football family, Reagans inherited his passion from his father Julius, a former midfielder who represented the Tanzanian National Team between 1998 and 2005. His father’s football journey became a source of inspiration, motivating the young Reagans to chase his own dreams on the pitch.
A Journey Built Through Hard Work
Reagans started his football development at Watoto Soccer Academy before moving to Iganga Tawheed Academy, where his talent quickly attracted attention. After only one year, he earned a move to Express FC Junior Team (U15) while studying at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.
His performances later secured him a place at KCCA FC U17 during his time at Kibuli Secondary School, where he spent two years developing among some of the country’s best young talents. However, injuries interrupted his progress, leading to a loan spell at Onduparaka Junior Team, where he fought his way back to full fitness.
After recovery, Reagans continued his football rise, featuring for Gayaza FV in the Regional League before joining Iganga United, where he enjoyed two successful seasons. He later played for Nawanyago Select FC before spending three years at Mbale Garage FC, further strengthening his reputation as a gifted midfielder.
The Thunderboys Chapter
A new chapter began when Reagans joined Thunderboys FC of Mayuge, under the guidance of coach Timothy Tirulaga. During his two-year stay, he showcased his leadership, creativity, and attacking qualities, becoming an important figure for the club.
His performances earned him another opportunity with Super Eagles FC Lugongwe, where he helped the team achieve major success by winning the Buganda Regional League title and reaching the FUFA Big League promotion playoffs.
He also represented Makerere University in university football competitions, adding more experience to his growing football profile.
A Trophy-Filled Career
Reagans later joined Old Timers FC Kyankwanzi, where he continued his winning tradition by securing another league championship and competing in promotion playoffs.
Currently, the talented midfielder features for Kisumu Boys FC in Kenya and Black Feugo FC in Jinja Regional League, continuing to showcase his abilities beyond Uganda’s borders.
A Player Defined by Magic
Across his career, Reagans has represented several counties in the prestigious Masaza Cup, including Buzaaya, Buwekula, Buvuma, and Bunyangabu, competing across the football-rich regions of Busoga, Buganda, and Tooro.
With an impressive collection of achievements including 30 championship trophies, 25 gold medals, and 15 silver medals, Reagans’ career statistics speak loudly. He has scored more than 250 competitive goals, an outstanding record for a midfielder.
